While Andrew<\/a> lost his HRH title, prince moniker, and home at Royal Lodge when King Charles stripped him of almost of all his royal honors in November 2025, one benefit that remained was Andrew’s place in the royal line of succession. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Andrew<\/a>, Queen Elizabeth II’s third child and second eldest son, is currently eighth in line for the British throne after Prince William, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, Prince Harry, Prince Archie, and Princess Lilibet. \u201cThe cleanest way to remove him would be for Andrew to renounce his position himself. Otherwise, it would require coordinated legislation across all 56 Commonwealth realms \u2014 a constitutional headache no one wants,” a source told Rob Shuter’s “Naughty But Nice” Substack<\/a> in a post published on February 23 about why Andrew hasn’t been removed from the line of succession yet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, that may all change after another source told Shuter that Andrew<\/a> is considering renouncing his spot in the line of succession in order to avoid jail time after he was arrested on February 19, his 66th birthday, on suspicion of misconduct in public office. His arrest came after allegations he shared confidential information with late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein<\/a> while acting as a trade envoy for the U.K.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHe would sacrifice his place in a second if it keeps him out of a cell,\u201d the insider told Shuter. \u201cJail is the one outcome he cannot control.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The source also claimed that Andrew had other stipulations for him to renounce his spot in the line of succession, including guarantees that his daughters with Sarah Ferguson<\/a>, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, keep their place in the British royal family. \u201cHe wants security for life,\u201d the insier said. \u201cA permanent grace-and-favor home, his horses settled at the new property, and written guarantees that his daughters keep their royal titles.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The insider continued, “He\u2019s negotiating comfort, not consequences. It\u2019s slippery to the end.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The report also comes amid another post by Shuter<\/a> reporting that the British royal family has no plans to visit Andrew in jail if he is sent to prison. \u201cThere will be no photo-ops, no quiet drop-ins,\u201d an insider told the Shuter. \u201cHe stands alone.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The source continued, \u201cThe Crown cannot bleed for one man. Survival of the institution comes first. Every time.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The insider also confirmed that Charles will not be financially supporting Andrew after his arrest. “There is no rescue package coming this time,\u201d the source said. \u201cNo visits. No checks. No exceptions.\u201d The source continued, \u201cHe was told this day could come. Now it\u2019s here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Along with Andrew, the insider also claimed that British royal family members are also distancing themselves from Fergie. \u201cSelf-preservation is the priority now,\u201d the source said. \u201cNo one wants to be collateral damage.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n
